Ramming Home the quality

This year the Goscor group, of which Goscor Power Products (GPP) is a division, celebrates its 25th anniversary. From inception Robin Subaru engines were part of the stable…and still are!

“Our business strategy has been to sell world leading brands and Robin Subaru engines easily fit that description,” says Michael Faber GPP MD.

To further establish the Robin Subaru brand, GPP entered the light construction equipment market three years ago and now offers a range of light construction equipment imported from Japan, powered by Robin Subaru.  This range includes the iconic Meiwa rammer, which has a variety of applications in building and construction.

“In South Africa, due to our dry and dusty conditions, rammers are pushed to their limits resulting in quality of machine and service being the major concerns when construction companies consider the purchase of a rammer,” says Faber, adding that engine failure is perhaps their central concern.

“Our 70kg rammers are fitted with the Robin Subaru EH12 2.6 KW 4-stroke engines which have proven to be outstanding performers,” he says.

Maintenance issues have been inherently dealt with in the design of Meiwa rammers, which are equipped with a dual-element filtration system comprising of a pre-air cleaner which removes the bigger dust particles and a second filter to remove any particles that may pass through the first filter. “The results are more operating hours between filter changes, less downtime on the rammer for maintenance, lower maintenance costs and a longer service life,” says Faber.

Recently Springbok Scaffolding and Plant Hire took delivery of 20 more Meiwa rammers based on its experience with its first batch bought in November 2008 Springbok said that the Meiwa rammers “performed so well and were so reliable” that the decision to purchase the further 20 machines was easy.

Ron Osborne, owner of Springbok, which has branches throughout Gauteng, says that he has built up a business with trained staff geared to satisfying his customers’ needs.  “In order to be able to do this we need the consistent support of our suppliers and GPP definitely fits this mould,” he says.

Faber says that he is pleased that his customers are happy with his company’s product and service. He says that GPP is dedicated to matching the quality of its product with an equally high quality of support and service. “We completely understand that the two go hand-in-hand and it is pleasing to get the feedback that we are succeeding in this and making a difference to so many of our customers,” he concluded.

GPP also sell Meiwa hydrostatic vibratory rollers powered by Kubota diesel engines and a Meiwa reversible plate compactor powered by Robin Subaru.
